GREATER EFFICIENCY FOR OFFSHORE WIND PLANTS

June 15 marks the 18th edition of World Wind Day, established by WindEurope and GWEC to raise awareness of the potential of wind energy.

Wind represents a clean renewable energy source and is increasingly strategic for achieving the decarbonization targets set for 2030 and 2050. However, the challenges are numerous: the availability of land for onshore applications is decreasing, while interest in developing offshore applications is growing, favored by stronger winds but hampered by technological complexity and high costs.

This is the context for Seapower, a consortium with the Federico II University of Naples, which has been involved in the floating wind sector for years, thanks to research and development of economically sustainable offshore plants conducted as part of numerous projects. Among these is the European Union-funded FLOATFARM, within which the company is working on an innovative model that will allow for a more precise assessment of the cost of energy production from floating wind turbines.
