EOL-CK-60

Design of a pitch-controlled wind tower and turbine with a synchronous generator using permanent magnets

Energy Energy Energy Energy Energy

The EOL-CK-60 project was developed on behalf of Comecart spa (Costruzioni Meccaniche Cartiere), part of Burgo Group, in 2010.
Seapower’s great attention to the design of the profiles of the rotor blades and to the entire motion transformation chain (without a gear multiplier), guarantees maximum efficiency in energy production.
The modular tower design enables authorizations even in locations near airports and coasts. Therefore, it is easy to make changes to already authorized projects, managing to contain new interventions within the previously permitted maximum sizes.
In 2015, Seapower has been responsible for the development of the “quick start” system which guarantees the machine’s start up at very low wind speed, approximately of 2 m/s. Furthermore, the performance has been optimized thanks to an improved programming of inverters and power control systems.
Additionally, some extensions have been designed and produced to be mounted on turbines already in operation. Consequently, the size of the rotor has been increased and the overall performance of the aerogenerator improved.
In 2016, Seapower redesigned the rotor, bringing it to 20 meters. From the EOL-CK-60, the EOL-CK-60L was created: same machine, same reliability but with a larger rotor.
