Challenges in developing floating offshore wind farms in Italy: a unique opportunity for job creation

The workshop “CHALLENGES IN DEVELOPING FLOATING OFFSHORE WIND FARMS IN ITALY: A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR JOB CREATION” will take place on the 25th of January 2023 at the Congress Center of University of Naples Federico II in Via Partenope 36. The workshop had been organized by University of Naples Federico II and Seapower scrl, in cooperation with the Danish Embassy in Rome, CNR-INM and OWEMES.
The research community meets with industries, developers, political decision-makers in order to discuss the possibilities regarding the exploitation of wind energy in deep waters, more specifically in the Mediterranean Sea, and evaluates the opportunities for its development.
The floating offshore wind system, which constitutes a key element in order to meet EU objectives for CO2 reduction by 2023, is the only technology system which can be installed in the Mediterranean Sea, even though it is not mature yet.
Therefore, our goal consists in organizing and developing an all-Italian supply chain, which would promote our steel and mechanical companies. This constitutes a great opportunity in promoting the creation of new job opportunities.
